Family: With a deceased wife and ever-haunting death of his one and only child at the age of six years old, Gabranth hates others' happiness when thinking of his own unhappiness.

Driven by frustration and grief, he adopted Silver Jewel as his foster child, only to force Silver to be a personal slave. Seeing Silver’s sadness lets Gabranth feel better about himself.

Childhood: Growing up and living a normal, simple life, Gabranth Shadowend loved to enjoy the simple things in life. Always loving and respecting the Victorian times, he often incorporated a traditional lifestyle inspired by the Victorian ways. But when his wife died at a young age, Gabranth promised to look after their lovely child by himself at the age of 45. Tragedy struck and his only love and joy in life died of brain cancer at the age of six, with Gabranth being 49. His grief led to having hatred towards anyone’s happiness and joy. He was introduced to the idea of adopting Silver Jewel by a newspaper ad of a child with a sweet, caring voice and nature. He then went ahead and adopted Silver at age of 56. He wanted to make Silver feel the way he felt so he swore Silver to be forever mute and forced Silver to be his personal servant to do his every biding. Gabranth felt better having Silver around.

His little twisted happiness soon disappeared once again when Silver Jewel ran away from home when Gabranth was 67. Outraged and desperate, Gabranth still hunts to take back the joy he felt having Silver as his personal servant until this day. He will not stop until he finds Silver once more.
